The Power of Motivation

After seven weeks on the “Sarah Palin Diet” I’ve lost 10.6 pounds, which puts me over halfway to my goal of losing 20 pounds. So far it’s been relatively painless. I stick to about 1300-1350 calories per day Sunday through Friday. On Saturday mornings I weigh in, and then I celebrate my losses by going out for a nice dinner on Saturday night and eating pretty much whatever I want for that one meal.

It’s nice to see my pants getting baggier, although it does mean I’ll have to do some shopping in the not-too-distant future. But it’s always more fun to shop for smaller clothes than for larger ones.

Another perk of the diet is that I’ll be in better shape to do some long photo walks. With the new camera and flash, I’m starting to work on building up my portfolio so that eventually I can start making bids on paying gigs. I have two appointments scheduled in the next couple of weeks to do some freebie shoots for a couple of people, just for the experience. Losing the weight is giving me confidence that I can do other things as well.

Tonight’s celebratory dinner is at a new (to us) place called Doc’s Place. It’s supposed to be a Cajun-themed restaurant with live jazz, although we’ll be there too early for the music. Hope the food is good!
